Blogger's Note: The following is the latest update from Pottsgrove Schools Superintendent William Shirk on the distribution of school meals.

Dear Pottsgrove Families,

As we continue to navigate through this pandemic, we want to assure you we will continue to provide breakfast and lunches to our students. To date, we have distributed over 24,000 meals to our Pottsgrove families.

The Montgomery County Office of Public Health and the CDC has communicated the importance of social distancing to help slow this virus. New information this week outlining some additional unknowns with regards to transmission, has once again prompted us to make some changes to our distribution methods.

The pick-up sites will remain the same: West Pottsgrove and Lower Pottsgrove Elementary Schools.
Pick-up at Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School will take place along the lower portico adjacent to Buchert Road. Pick-up at West Pottsgrove Elementary School will take place along the driveway near the main office of the school.
  • Monday, April 6 -- Pick-up for 5 days (Monday thru Friday)
  • Wednesday, April 15 – Pick-up for 3 days due to Spring break (Wednesday thru Friday)
  • Times for distribution will remain from 10 a.m. to 12 noon
  • Both locations are open to all Pottsgrove families, regardless of your township
We are asking ALL vehicles that proceed through these distribution zones to make sure one of the following things is true:
  • That the trunk of your car is unlatched,
  • That the rear (back seat door) of your car is unlatched.
Food handlers will then place all provisions in one of those desired areas. If you are unable to open your trunk, or unlatch your back door, you will be asked to move forward to a separate self-serve area and pick up your meals.

This practice will ensure that we are all compliant with proper social distancing practices. We appreciate your cooperation.

We also appreciate your feedback and will continue to work together to strengthen our community through this important quality of life program for our families.

Sincerely,

William R. Shirk, Jr., Ed. D.
Superintendent of Schools
