Blogger's Note: Here is news about two Pottstown schools working together.
Rupert Elementary School and Montgomery County Community College (Montco) teamed up this year to make a difference in the lives of students.
Principal Matthew Moyer and Professor Adria Creswell worked to form a tutoring program between the two schools.
The students from Montco were part of an education course designed to teach them how to guide students’ reading development.
The tutoring opportunity allowed them to work with students and to create lessons specifically designed to meet individual needs.
The children at Rupert Elementary School benefited from the one-on-one attention they received each week from the college students.
It was a successful partnership that could not only be seen in the academic progress that was made for both sets of students, but also in the smiles and bonds that were created through this enriching experience.
It was a bittersweet day when the semester came to an end and goodbyes were said. Both schools look forward to continuing with this tutoring program in semesters to come.
