Fun in the Community? Where Else? At the Community Center

The Olivet Boys & Girls Club will host its first annual Community Fun Day at the Ricketts Community Center this Saturday, from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

The center is located at the corner of Beech and Adams streets.

The event, which is open to everyone, will include:

•  A "Handzdown Basketball Tournament"
• Aaron Beasley training sessions;
• A moon bounce and games;
• Dunk tanks with local school principals as the dunkees
• Church choirs and community artists
• Food and vendors

It is hosted by the Pottstown Parents Stand Up, the Olivett's parents auxiliary group.

Borough Councilman Joseph Kirkland told borough council Monday that the idea behind the event is to "promote awareness about their programs."

He said organizers expect between 200 to 300 people to be there, along with Costco and Brusters Ice Cream.
