Blogger's Note: The following was provided by Pottstown Borough Council.
In past years, our town has faced many challenges. History has taught us that those challenges can be overcome when we work together as a community..
At this time, our community faces the strain of food insecurity. No child or adult should ever feel the pain of hunger.
So, the Pottstown Borough Councilors and Mayor are asking the people of Pottstown to “step up to the (dinner) plate” and help to provide nonperishable food items for those folks who are faced with the challenge of feeding their families and themselves.
A can of soup, a box of noodles, or a can of tuna are but a very small list of items that could provide a bit of comfort to those in need. Check your cupboard for any nonperishable food items which you can spare.
Then bring your food items to J. J. Ratigan or any of the Pottstown fire houses. Santa can't visit his house this year, but he has asked the Pottstown Borough Council, the Mayor, and the borough residents to take the “Santa Challenge.”

The Santa Challenge says, “fill the Santa House with food from floor to ceiling until the walls bulge”.
Food will be taken from the drop off locations every Saturday morning to the Santa House at 228 High Street (The Alley). Then we can check the status of the challenge .
Food items can be dropped off at the above locations from Saturday Dec. 5 until Dec. 19. The Cluster will then distribute the donations.
Show Santa we can meet his challenge.
