Pottstown Council OKs New Hill School Dorm

The construction of a new dorm on the campus of The Hill School was approved by borough council Monday night.

Already recommended by the planning commission, the approval, along with approval of 21 waivers to the land development process, were approved unanimously and without discussion by council.

The new dorm will have 44 rooms and 47 parking spaces.

An old, unused classroom building along the soccer field in the middle of the campus was torn down to make room for the new building.

It will be located across the field from Rolfe and Foster halls.

In other news, council also re-appointed members to the Pottstown Borough Authority, the zoning hearing board, the vacancy board, the Pottstown Human Relations Commission and the blighted property review committee.

Additionally, the process for changing the rules to allow the limit on public comments to council to be expanded from three minutes to five minutes when there are less than five members of the public present was also begun/

Council President Dan Weand cast the only vote against changing those rules.
