COVID-19 Makes Relay for Live a Drive-Thru Event

Blogger's Note: The following was provided by Pottstown Relay for Life.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the previously scheduled Relay For Life of Pottstown has been rescheduled as a Drive-Thru event on Friday, Aug. 21 at the First Presbyterian Church in Pottstown.

The lot, located between North Evans and North Franklin streets, opens at 7:30 p.m and closes at 9 p.m.

From the safety of your own vehicle, help celebrate cancer survivors, caregivers, and Relayers, remember loved ones and fight back against cancer.

To keep socially distanced and adhere to the church's policy of no large gatherings, visitors are asked to stay in their car while viewing the Luminaria. Relay For Life is still all about togetherness, but the safety of patients, survivors, volunteers and staff is always a top priority.

“With all of our events having been cancelled due to the pandemic we are learning new ways to carry on. The Luminaria Ceremony is one of the most popular and dear parts of all Relay For Life events," said Event Co-Chairperson- Elizabeth Layre

"This year, in an effort to Fight Back, Celebrate and Remember we are hosting a drive thru Luminaria. We will continue to fund raise and support the efforts of the American Cancer Society,” she said.

Relay For Life of Pottstown is supported by many local businesses and organizations. Success would not be possible without them.

The American Cancer Society’s mission matters more than ever. The needs of people facing cancer continue and so does the work. Cancer patients still need support during this crisis.

Funds raised help the American Cancer Society to continue with cancer research, the 24/7 helpline, and for continuing services to get patients the care and support they need where possible.

Help continue to bring hope to those that need it most. Join your Relay For Life of Pottstown, the second largest Relay in the world, to help those facing cancer.
