Loss of AC Moore is Pottsgrove (School Supply) Gain

Pottsgrove teachers were eager to take advantage of the generous offer of free school supplies for thei students.
Blogger's Note:
The following was provided by Pottsgrove School District.

A.C. Moore, which was located in the Upland Square Shopping Center went out of business early this year.

How much would you shop if you didn't have to pay?
As with most businesses that close, they hire a liquidator to clean out the inventory and recoup some cash and then sell to discount stores, aka Ollies, etc.

A.C. Moore began that process and got about one-third of the way through the store when COVID-19 hit and they were unable to continue.

As the pandemic continued it became apparent the merchandise was more of a nuisance to both A.C. Moore and the liquidator than it was ultimately worth.

Therefore, since Paramount Realty Services, Inc.  owns the center and their goal is to rent the area ASAP, they needed the store cleared.

Hence, a phone call was made by Paramount to Pottsgrove to ask if we would be interested in school supplies, wrote Gary DeRenzo, community relations manager for the district.

"Obviously, we were not completely prepared for their tremendous generosity as they simply opened the store to our teachers. I believe the attached pictures help tell the story better than my words." he wrote.

The Digital Notebook staff agrees.

"We have estimated the value of the gift to be approximately $20,000," DeRenzo wrote.

"We are still in the process of inventorying all of the items over at West Pottsgrove Elementary School."
