When I look at the facebook pages about pottstown in the past, every one talks about how they miss the corner stores that were in every neighborhood. Now a corner store is planned for King St. and those same people are complaining. Don't understand.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure we'd all love to see the corner stores of the past come back... I,based, off of driving around the town and looking at the presentation of the current corner stores don't think they are in anyway shape or form similar to previous generations stores or carry the same regard or respect for the neighborhood that they are in.
DeletePottstown needs business - period. If it's legal, allow it. What's the alternative? Empty stores which the owner will lose to the bank. An investor will come in and buy it for pennies on the dollar. Does anyone in this town realize that anytime an investor or homeowner loses a property to the bank the entire area housing values decrease because the "comps" for mortgages decrease. Evan, this is a story idea to educate the community on why it is important to have as many occupied properties as possible no matter if they are rentals or not
ReplyDeleteI agree. If you don't like the store, don't go there. For all the people who complain about Wal-Mart, they still shop there. I here "we need a (fill in the blank) store in town. It's a free market, Pottstown should have people who promote the town and court these companies they want here.
