The team at Steel River Playhouse is excited to welcome Rita Pederson as our new Managing Director.

Rita has been a part of the Playhouse family for several years as a parent, a volunteer, and as the Development Director before taking on this new role. The 17-month shutdown gave the team an opportunity to review the needs and future direction for the Playhouse, and because of her breadth of experience Rita is well positioned to help lead the team into the future.

According to Leena Devlin, Artistic Director, “Rita brings creativity, intelligence, and compassion to everything she does. She is passionate about our mission, and I couldn’t be more excited to have her in this position."

According to Rita “The last year has brought home the importance of connection and inclusivity, and I look forward to working with the staff and community to make Steel River Playhouse a safe space to share ideas, come together, and tell our stories.”

The theater reopened in August with sold out performances of “Heathers the Musical: High School Edition”, and auditions for “A Christmas Carol”, the holiday show chosen by the community pre-pandemic.

Upcoming fall productions include “The Ethics of Living Jim Crow”, “Aesop’s (Oh So Slightly) Updated Fables, and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Fall classes in dance, music, and theater arts for children and adults begin in mid- September.

Watch for more information as we announce additional performances including music, comedy, plays and musicals.
