Ricketts Car Washes Will Help Pottstown Homeless

A bi-weekly car wash event that begins Friday at the Ricketts Center has two goals, according to organizer Donald Johnson.

Johnson is the founder of Dilemma France LLC, and he wants to use that organization both to teacher children how to be entrepreneurs, and to help the homeless of Pottstown.

Friday, from 3 to 7 p.m., children ages 11 to 18 will be conducting a car wash at the Ricketts Community Center on Beech Street.

From that point forward, the car wash will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m., ending on Aug. 23.

"The goal of this event is to help out as many different homeless individuals, as well as families as we can," Johnson wrote in an email describing the event.

"Individuals and families will be randomly picked by the community of Pottstown, as well as The Rickett Center. Families and individuals that qualify will instantly be helped with food, clothes," Johnson wrote.

"I started this foundation to not only provide for the youth and the homeless in need, but to also show our younger generation how to be entrepreneurs," wrote Johnson.

At the car wash we will be offering: $10 basic wash (includes wash and dry) $15 Division wash (includes wash, dry, as well as rims and tire shine) $20 Division 1 wash (includes wash, dry, rims, tire shine, as well as full vacuum and dashboard shine.)

"I would love for the people of Pottstown to come together and show support to the young men and women working the car wash," wrote Johnson.
