Webster: Empowerment Through Civic Engagement

Blogger's Note:
The following was provided by the office of state Rep. Joe Webster, D-150th Dist.

For his next virtual town hall, state Rep. Joe Webster, D-Montgomery, will host a panel discussion titled “Empowerment through Civic Engagement” from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, with the live stream available through Webster’s home page, RepJoeWebster.com.

“With an esteemed panel of experts, we will center our discussion on civic education and how it can be improved, the definition of citizenship and the benefits of civic engagement, and the possible barriers to participation and how we can address those barriers through community action,” Webster said. “In short, our goal is to empower the people.”

Scheduled panelists include academics Dr. Joshua Weikert and Dr. Gene Halus, educator and local activist Dr. Monica D’Antonio, and former sports television producer turned issue-based campaign director Kadida Kenner.

“It’s not enough to have a theoretical debate about how we get people civically involved,” Webster said. “We need to address the reasons why so many people aren’t participating, and our panelists are among the best to guide that discussion.”

There will be a traditional Q&A at the end of the program. RSVPs are requested, and comments and questions can be sent in ahead of time through the RSVP form: https://www.pahouse.com/Webster/RSVP/?id=1325.

The virtual town hall will also be streamed live on Webster’s Facebook page, facebook.com/RepJoeWebster.
