Ten students from Pottstown High School’s DECA chapter participated in this year’s state competition.
Thanks to Victoria McShea and Kevin Pascal, Pottstown’s DECA advisors, the students were enabled to study and prepare for their competitive events.
Out of the ten competitors from Pottstown High School, three students qualified for an award.
Senior Dylan Murphy, who competed in the Sports and Entertainment Marketing category was a finalist.
Similarly, CyeNyla Hall, a senior, was a finalist in the Accounting Applications event.
Finally, as a participant in the written event competition, Mackenzie Moser was recognized for contributing to the Gold Level certification of the Trojan Shop, a school based enterprise at Pottstown High School.
This year’s Annual State Career Development Conference included students from all over the state of Pennsylvania. For the conference, competitors had to submit two role-plays and one content test. For the role-play portion, students were given scenarios that they had to respond to in a professional manner. Questions from the judges and performance indicators were key aspects of the role plays.
