YWCA Opens Enrollment for Adult Ed Classes

Blogger's Note:
The following was provided by the YWCA Tri-County Area.

Enrollment is open for the next 12-week session of Adult Basic Education/Adult Secondary Education (High School Diploma) classes at YWCA Tri-County Area.

The classes are free to Pennsylvania residents 17 and older without a high school diploma who are not enrolled in any public or private post-secondary school. Classes are Mondays through Thursdays in two locations: 724 N. Adams St., Pottstown, and 1430 DeKalb St., Norristown.

The next class session begins Oct. 5 and runs through Dec. 23.

YW’s adult education instructors are experienced and supportive, helping adults achieve their goals one step at a time, every step of the way. Students are tested upon enrollment so that instructors can best help them achieve their goals. Instructors and case managers work as a team to support students, helping them develop educational and career goals, and helping them overcome any barriers that may arise.

Students enrolling in high school equivalency classes improve their skills in basic academic subjects leading toward a Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma. The Education and Training Center offers the HiSet exam which gives out-of-school youth and adults the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge and earn the state-issued diploma.

The Adult Education and Training Center also offers English as a Second Language classes for non-native speakers of English; adults may register for ESL classes at any time.

For more information on enrolling in adult education classes, call the YW Adult Education and Training Center at 610-326-7323.
